Along with Thibodaux's treasured history comes many honored traditions. Dating back to 1858, Thibodaux's Fireman's Fair and Parade can be considered one of the longest running of these traditions. The impact of this department, one of the largest all-volunteer fire department’s in the nation, is exhibited in the city's low insurance rating. Thibodaux celebrates the many men and women firefighters through its annual Fireman's Fair and Parade each May. This orignally small event has grown into a large-scale community celebration with over 50,000 people in attendence and is considered as the oldest continuous annual parade. |
